Located on a forested mountain plateau, the existing meadow captured our imagination as a starting place. The angled wings of the main house and garage/entry, create a sheltered courtyard opening up to the meadow. The traditional 2-story main-house, contains the living spaces and 2nd floor bedrooms. The master suite and guest wings are attached at both ends of the house, as if accrued over time. Fieldstone piers, boulders, and path stones anchor the loggia, terrace and screened porch to the land. Laminated pine beams and spruce ceilings of the loggia and screened porch, continue indoors into the foyer, living, and dining areas. Particular moments of delight are created with built-ins, a palette of various wood species, and natural stone and tile. The flow of space throughout is defined by the subtle collision of geometries, creating informal, individual spaces oriented to particular views of the landscape.
