Located on a forested mountain plateau, the existing meadow captured our imagination as a starting point. The angled wings of the main house and garage/entry create a sheltered courtyard facing the clearing. A traditional 2-story main gable structure contains the living spaces and 2nd floor bedrooms. The main suite and guest wings are attached at both ends of the main house, as if accrued there over time. Fieldstone piers with a smattering of slag fragments, boulders, and path stones anchor the loggia, terrace and screened porch to the land. The laminated pine beams and spruce ceilings of the loggia & screened porch continue indoors into the foyer, living, and dining areas. The flow of space throughout is defined by the subtle collision of geometries creating informal, individual spaces oriented to particular views of the landscape.
